EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment), which that was first introduced to the world within the scope of the National Environmental Policy Act that was put into effect in USA back in 1969, took its place in USA, EU countries and other countries as the most effective environmental management tools and reinforced its position as years passed, is applied in Turkey since February 7, 1993.
The goals of EIA are to protect environmental values against economical policies without hindering economical and social development and to take all the required precautions beforehand by determining all the possible negative environmental impacts that a planned action may cause. It is the report that defines the ways to make waste(s) causing environmental pollution harmless and the precautions that may be taken in this regard by considering all the possible negative impacts that institutions, organizations and enterprises may cause on environment as a result of the activities they plan.
