In the European Union harmonization process, the subjects under the title “environment” are very important. And the authorized official body for these subjects is the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning. The Ministry developed goals to align Turkish Environmental Legislation with EU Legislation, to apply this legislation and to strengthen administrative structure and information sharing infrastructure in the corporate sense.
With this Regulation on the Permits and Licenses Required in Accordance with the Environmental Law enacted on 29.04.2009 by being published in the Official Gazette No. 27214, it is decided to gather the permit subjects such as emission, noise, wastewater discharge that had been individually defined and the license subjects such as recycle, disposal, interim storage, processing and treatment under the title of ‘Environmental Permit / Environmental Permit and License’ with a holistic approach.  
It is required for organizations subject to this regulation to establish an Environmental Management Unit, to employ at least one Environmental Officer or to get environmental management service from Licensed Environmental Consulting Companies.
