BRC GLOBAL FOOD STANDARD
BRC was issued back in 1998 to remove the multiple audit burden imposed by third parties and retailers on the producers supplying food to UK. This standard was structured in a way that will reflect the EU adjustment laws and continuous improvement requirements in the food applications. It has a wide coverage including all the respective legal subjects about food safety. BRC standard is a mark of prestige in food safety. And BRC certification indicates technical compatibility of suppliers and brand owners for the retailers. They provide guidance for the legal requirements concerning the product. Retailers, producers, exporters, food companies, additive producers and food service sector can all benefit from this standard. The main goal of BRC is to establish an internationally accepted general framework covering all of the food safety standards and to assist the development of food safety in the global scale.
IFS INTERNATIONAL FOOD STANDARD
The constantly increasing demands of conscious consumers, increasing compensation amounts, food safety threats and globalization of product work flow with technology necessitate the development of a single type of food safety quality assurance standard. Based on this idea, the member companies of HDE (German Retail Federation), FCD (Federation of Enterprises of Trade and Distribution), CONAD, COOP and “Federdistribuzione” (Italian Retailers Associations) developed International Food Standard (IFS) as the quality and food safety standard for trademarks. This standard ensures the fair comparison of food safety and quality levels of producers. |
